Douglas Hough

Douglas Stanley Hough, 86, of Hilo died Nov. 12, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Los Angeles, he was a teacher, yacht captain and builder and Navy veteran.

Friends may call at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Center for Spiritual Living on the corner of Paradise Drive and 31st Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, donations may be made to Hospice of Hilo, 1101 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720

He is survived by wife, Cathy Hough of Hilo; daughters, Cheri (Anthony) Damico of La Qunita, Calif., Dana (Wolfgang) Dieterich of Prescott, Ariz., Renee (Michael) Turner of Bellflower, Calif.; stepson, Marcus Scott of Oahu; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Haime Barroga

Haime A. Barroga, 95, of Kurtistown died Oct. 14, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 12, 1918, in the Philippines, he was a cook and World War II Army veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 19 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Pearl City, Oahu, for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by stepdaughters, Anne Park of Kurtistown, Belinda Morris of Los Angeles; stepsons, John Rosa of Waialua, Oahu, Richard Clark and Cyrus Clark, both of Honolulu.

Anne Copp

Anne Leialoha Copp, 86, of Waimea died Oct. 20, 2014. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired operator services supervisor for GTE Hawaiian Telephone Co.

She is survived by daughters, Alison (Frank) Gaspar of Waimanalo, Oahu, Moana (Patrick) Sheehy of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna Sakae De Mello, 93, of Hilo died Oct. 26, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, she was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

She is survived by daughters, Doris Fukui, Shirley (Eugene) Yamane and Kathleen (Edward) Reis, all of Hilo; son, Duane (Janice) De Mello of Hilo; sister, Barbara Miyose of Hilo; brother, Tadao Endo of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

Aylene Nabeta

Aylene S. Nabeta, 87, of Hilo died Nov. 2, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired clerk with First Hawaiian Bank.

She is survived by son, Nelson (Carolyn) Nabeta of Oahu; daughter, Mildred (Ted) Matsuo of Hilo; brother, Richard (Elizabeth) Nakamura of California; sister, Elsie Asuka of Oahu; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marian Charlton-Oshita

Marian Eileen Charlton-Oshita, 88, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 2, 2014. Born Dec. 10, 1925, in San Diego, she was a writer of metaphysics and an elementary school teacher in Glendale, Calif., and Kailua-Kona.

She is survived by husband, Kazumi Oshita of Kailua-Kona; sons, Raymond Charlton of Corvallis, Ore., Eric Charlton of Sierra Madre, Calif.; brothers, Ralph (Glenda) Rassmusen of San Jose, Calif., Alvin (Avis) Rassmusen of Fountain Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren.

Ernest Albritton

Ernest Edward Albritton, 51, of Captain Cook died Nov. 10, 2014, at his residence. Born Aug. 27, 1963, in Chico, Calif., he was a journeyman electrician, member of the electrician’s union BOEW and an Army veteran.

No services are planned. Scattering of his ashes will be at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Evone Albritton of Captain Cook; son, Michael Mendes of Germany; daughter, Jini (Randy) Rash of Chico, Calif.; two brothers; two grandchildren; aunts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Forest Dailey Jr.

Forest Dailey Jr. died Oct. 20, 2014, at his home in Menifee, Calif. He was a Korean War veteran, former owner of a construction and excavating company, a designer of handcrafted koa furniture and a sports fisherman.

No services are planned. His ashes will be spread at sea in the waters off Kailua-Kona in the spring.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Dailey; sons, Ted Dailey, Bruce Dailey; daughter, Nancy Dailey-Fedell; three grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

Michelle Swanick-Higgins

Michelle Swanick-Higgins, 64, of Keaau died Oct. 27, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Tucson, Ariz., she was a retired accounting manager.

She is survived by husband, Dennis Higgins of Keaau; son, Brian Higgins of Keaau; daughter, Shauna Higgins of Lakeport, Calif.; two brothers; five sisters; one hanai brother; two grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.
